Stem Cell Therapy
Stem cells, or progenitor cells, are found throughout the human body and act as an inherent repair system for various organ systems, replenishing adult tissues daily. These cells exist as undifferentiated or “non-specific, immature” cells and have the ability to self-renew via mitosis (i.e. increase in number via cell division thus expanding the innate stem cell pool) and also to differentiate into more specialised or “mature” cell types depending on their external environment.
Your own stem cells are harvested from either your bone marrow or adipose(fat) tissue. Bone marrow stem cells are by far the most researched and published in international studies. They are also the most popular and potent source of stem cells for orthopaedic conditions.
Your own stem cells are what we refer to as autologous cells, and they are multi-potent. We mainly harvest them from bone marrow at the back of your hip.
